The Fall Of A Republic
When the thirteen colonies were still a part of England, Professor Alexander Tyler wrote about the fall of the Athenian republic over two thousand years previous to that time:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage.

Alexander Tyler

The founders of MCP can trace our country's history from bondage to England down through all of these steps, to the point where the country is today. Very few people vote, most are apathetic. Approximately 50% of the population is now dependent on the government for some type of entitlement; social security, welfare, government pension, etc. Those who are dependent on the government will continue to vote people into office who promise to increase the government handout programs until the day that an individual in office, or running for office, dares to stand up and say, "Let's do away with the old outdated constitution, and put me in control, and I will solve all your problems." Ignorantly the selfish, apathetic, dependent masses will vote what they believe to be in their own selfish interest, and the once mighty United States of America will become a dictatorship. The final result can be seen by looking at every other country in the world that has followed this pattern. The Dictatorship kills everyone who disagrees with their politics, and 98% of the population become unwilling slaves living below the poverty line, serving the ultra rich rulers. There will be no middle class, no freedom of speech, no freedom to choose your own occupation, no freedom to travel about as you choose, no freedom to raise your own children, no freedom to worship as you choose, no freedom to do anything except what the rulers tell you to do.
We would like to see this cycle broken. The only way for that to happen is for the majority of the population to take personal responsibility for their own welfare and stop being dependent on someone else to take care of them, and then vote for candidates who believe in the constitution and who will continue to rule according to that standard.
